Aaron Rodgers dismisses 'awkward' moment with Jets HC Robert Saleh

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has opened up on his awkward exchange with coach Robert Saleh.

During the Jets' 24-3 blowout win over New England on Thursday night, Rodgers went to the sidelines after New York went up 14-0. However, as Saleh went to hug him, it appeared Rodgers pushed him away.

It was an awkward exchange, and after the game on Thursday Night, Aaron Rodgers opened up on the exchange saying Saleh isn't a big hugger which is why he shoved him away.

'"It wasn't awkward at all. He's not a big hugger, usually, I didn't know he was going for the hug. He likes the two-hand chest push. He talks a lot about two-score leads so I gave him a push and said two-score lead," Rodgers said, via DailyMail.

Saleh says he had talked about earlier in the day about giving the defense a two-score lead to work with. So, after Rodgers did, he got excited and went into the hug, but his QB is not much of a hugger.

Although some fans assumed that meant Rodgers doesn't like Saleh, both laughed it off and said that isn't the case.

Rodgers finished the game going 27-for-35 for 281 yards and two touchdowns.

Aaron Rodgers says he finally feels like himself again

Through the first two weeks of the 2024 NFL season, Aaron Rodgers had yet to throw for over 200 yards. The quarterback was coming back from a torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1 last season.

Following the win against the Patriots, Rodgers says he finally feels like himself again.

"This was kind of the first step in playing like I know I'm capable of playing," Rodgers said, via ESPN. "I felt like I was myself from five years ago."

Saleh, meanwhile, says Rodgers showed off the mobility that he flashed in training camp. He also said he knows no one has a better arm or mindset than Rodgers in the NFL.

"The cool thing was he showed the mobility that we saw in training camp," Saleh said. "He may not be what he used to be with his legs, but his arm is still 30 and his mind is still operating at a high level."

The Jets improved to 2-1 on the season and will host the Denver Broncos in Week 4.
