"I worry about my future cognitive abilities" - Aaron Rodgers employs a few 'silly things' to trick his brain every now and then
Repeated head trauma and CTE cases are unfortunately quite common amongst NFL players. Aaron Rodgers, 39, has had a few concussions to worry about during his 18-year stint with the Green Bay Packers. The star QB is understandeably concerned about the future, especially if one takes into account the risks.
In a recent interview with Men's Health, Rodgers laid down his concerns and what measures he was taking to avoid CTE and other problems.
After all, CTE can be fatal for NFL stars. While there might not be any way to stop extreme cases, one can still try and work around with what they've got. Rodgers, who is doing his best, is aware of the severity of the situation.
Here's what he said:
“As football players, we all have a way higher risk of CTE, and it’s a real thing, and it’s something we should be worried about. I definitely have had concussions and worry about my future cognitive abilities.”
Right now, Rodgers is employing random 'silly' techniques to trick his brain and keep it sharp. One of these tricks includes brushing his teeth with his non-dominant hand.
In the long-term, Rodgers is making sure to keep up with neurological research. It has been reported that 'sessions in hyperbaric chambers' can help gray matter heal, which could be huge.
Does Aaron Rodgers own a hyperbaric chamer?
Currently focusing on his game and health, Rodgers seems to be fond of hyperbaric chambers.
His, however, was taken from him. While Aaron Rodgers did have a chamber at home, he had to give it away in a split with an ex. The four-time NFL MVP thought it had been a gift, which he ultimately had to return.
To those unaware, the chamber provides elevated oxygen levels to help speed one's healing.
Rodgers also shed light on his ayahuasca ceremony, which was guided by a shaman:
“There’s a lot of trust. And surrender, I think, is another good word. You have to surrender to the master plant teacher that is ayahuasca, and there’s naturally some fear around that. And when you do, some pretty incredible things can happen, as was evidenced by night two of my most recent journey."
Not exactly for everyone, the three-night session helped Rodgers seek self-forgiveness and love himself unconditionally. Though he might not visit the place again, it seemed to be an eye-opening few days for the Packers star.
Having said that, the Super Bowl XLV Champion is still unsure about his future with the Packers. Already a successful veteran, Aaron Rodgers will have to make an informed decision, taking his team and his health into consideration.
