Aaron Rodgers floats possibility of reuniting with Davante Adams in 2028 Olympics - "I'd love to play with him again"
Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams were among the most lethal passer-receiver duos of the 2010s and early 2020s. Together, they led the Green Bay Packers to five NFC North titles (2014, 2016 and 2019-21) and four NFC Conference Championship Game appearances.
But in 2022, that partnership ended. After receiving the franchise tag, Adams demanded a trade and went to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he received a monstrous extension that made him the highest-paid wideout at the time.
However, Rodgers wants a reunion in 2028, when flag football makes its Olympic debut. Speaking with Kayla Adams at the New York Jets practice facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, he said:
"I'd love to play with Davante again. It might be in the 2028 Olympics if they let some of the old guys go out and play. But we'll see. I mean I want him to have great success. And I love him."
Aaron Rodgers weighs in on Haason Reddick's situation
Speaking of the Jets, there has been much turmoil within the team lately, especially when Aaron Rodgers is involved.
He has already dismissed alleged rifts with Garrett Wilson and Joe Tippmann amid offensive struggles, but another issue is still looming: a contract holdout by linebacker Haason Reddick, who was acquired via offseason trade but will become a free agent after the upcoming season.
In that same on-site interview, Rodgers was asked about the last time he and the two-time Pro Bowler with the Philadelphia Eagles conversed. He responded:
“It's been a little while. I think I texted him when he got traded. There were a couple of more back-and-forths maybe, but it's been a little bit. But yeah, I can't wait to see him.”
According to recent reports, talks between management and Reddick have been progressing well, which may make him end his holdout and begin the process of acclimatization. He has been wanting a deal that sits within the $25-28 million range, according to Sportsnet New York's Connor Hughes, and the Jets are unwilling to trade or release him.
Meanwhile, his holdout has been costing him money. Reddick lost 15% of his prorated bonus when he failed to show up for camp on Sunday. That percentage increased to 25% on Monday.
He already has a $50,000 daily fine for missing camp, as well as another $50,000 fine for skipping mandatory minicamp in June. He also forfeited his $250,000 workout bonus for skipping the team's voluntary offseason program.
