Aaron Rodgers issues bold warning to Jets after Garrett Wilson's frustrated comments

Aaron Rodgers is expected to be thinking about the postseason at this point in the 2024 NFL season. That's not how this season panned out for the 41-year-old quarterback in his first season with the New York Jets.

The 4-11 New York Jets are frustrated with their current status. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson expressed his frustrations with his lack of production after the game. Quarterback Rodgers fired back when it was his turn to speak to the media after the 19-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

In his postgame press conference, the veteran quarterback said that his teammates still need to act professionally and build a healthy culture as they move into the offseason.

"What you’re focusing on is the most important thing now," Rodgers said. "That's not to change the reality of the situation being 4-11, out of the playoffs, going into an unknown offseason, but we’ve got to figure out what it means to be a professional. I think that’s an important part of building culture."

Aaron Rodgers continued by saying that the performance of his teammates in the final two weeks will determine who returns to the New York Jets in 2025.

"The last two weeks we can really see who’s on board moving forward and who is ready to get out. It’s just part of the game," Rodgers said after Sunday's loss. "I’ve been on a couple of teams where we’re out of it and it’s interesting to watch the practice habits, the preparation habits."
"Hopefully we’ll do the right thing and that means a lot because everybody’s watching and it’s a who-you-know business. There will be interesting conversations in the next couple weeks, but just focus on the relationships that we have with each other and try to finish this thing out like a pro."

Rodgers has acknowledged that he will contemplate his NFL future this offseason. The New York Jets could also decide to part ways with him after the 2024 NFL season and begin a complete rebuild with a new coach and general manager at the helm.

Garrett Wilson's frustration could be aimed at Aaron Rodgers

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers's connection with wide receiver Davante Adams has been on display over the last few weeks. In October, Adams accepted a trade to the New York Jets to reunite with his former Green Bay Packers teammate. As the two longtime friends continued to connect on the field, another Jets wide receiver felt left out of the offensive scheme.

Wide receiver Garrett Wilson expressed frustration after Sunday's 9-19 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams. Wilson stated that he wants more opportunities to make plays but that 'people' aren't giving him that opportunity.

“I’d like to be involved, love to make an impact on the game, but people see it differently. That’s out of my control,” Wilson said.

Wilson did say that he appreciated Todd Downing, the passing game coordinator, who helped get him involved in the offense. This means his frustrations could be aimed at Aaron Rodgers. Garrett Wilson is set to become a free agent this offseason, and whether he stays with the New York Jets remains to be seen.
