Aaron Rodgers opens up on 'hardest' Jets camp with Robert Saleh as post-injury comeback nears
Aaron Rodgers has had an almost unprecedented offseason. It's his second year with the New York Jets after playing just a few snaps in 2023, so his recovery and return are unique.
According to the QB himself, this has been the hardest Jets camp he's endured. The former Green Bay Packers star said via NBC Sports:
“Camp is much harder this year, and maybe the hardest in the last seven or eight years in my career. I knew that, I had a little insight coming into camp, that’s what Robert wanted to do. Some people believe that though it puts more strain on you in training camp, it gets you more ready to play when the season starts, and some people believe the opposite.”
Rodgers doesn't exactly have to learn a new system like he did last year, but head coach Robert Saleh is apparently putting the Jets through a much more rigorous system this year. The failures of last year will not be repeated without a lot of effort to avoid them, it seems.
Aaron Rodgers talks about new offense in 2024
The New York Jets had a great defense last year, but they lost a lot of games due to a weak offense. They had largely planned for it to be Aaron Rodgers' show, and when he didn't play, things fell apart.
They're not expecting another injury, but the offense, in terms of both plays and playmakers, is much more diverse this year. Rodgers said via NBC Sports:
“I like it, it’s been great, you talk to the older guys, not a lot of complaints from any of those guys. Younger guys don’t know any better, so it’s good.”
He said the starting offense has run 300 more plays than they did last year and he believes it will show on the field. Mike Williams and others are new to the team, so the playbook and the lineup will be different moving forward.
