Aaron Rodgers supercharges Davante Adams trade speculation one day after Raiders WR made plans clear

Speculation of a Davante Adams trade to the New York Jets to reunite the generational wideout with Aaron Rodgers is unlikely to die anytime soon. Both Adams and Rodgers appear to have made their peace with that fact.

The Las Vegas Raiders WR appeared on the Up and Adams show earlier this week to talk all things NFL and admitted that Rodgers was still 'in his ear' over a potential reunion in the Big Apple.

Adams, though, did his bit to extinguish any rumors of a trade to the Jets. The Raiders WR said:

"He’s in that ear, that’s for sure. He’s in the ear, but it’s not easy. Obviously, we can get together and talk about the old times and the potential of doing this and that but I’m a Raider and he knows that.”

One day later, though, a similar question was posed to Rodgers at the American Century Championship at South Lake Tahoe, Nevada. The four-time NFL MVP took a slightly different stance.

When asked about Luke Getsy's introduction into the Raiders coaching staff as the offensive coordinator, Rodgers said:

"I love Luke Getsy, he's a fantastic coach. I love Davante. Can’t wait to play with him… again.”

Inside Jets' failed pursuit of a Davante Adams trade

According to ESPN, the Jets reached out to the Raiders last year just before the NFL trade deadline to test the waters over a potential move.

While the Jets clearly wanted to reunite Rodgers and Adams in New York, the Raiders signalled that they were not open to doing business for the face of their franchise. The next day, after an MNF loss to the Lions, the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler, the two men who turned down the Jets.

This offseason, the Jets did their best to bring another big-name WR in and settled on former Chargers star Mike Williams. The 29-year-old wideout signed a one-year contract worth a maximum of $15 million.

The Jets also brought Tyron Smith, Malachi Corley and Morgan Moses to town to boost their offense. They were heavily linked with drafting Brock Bowers in the first round, though the franchise ultimately picked T Olumuyiwa Fashanu out of Penn State with the 11th overall pick.

In any case, the Jets have been dealt a pretty interesting schedule to kick things off in 2024. They will open the season against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium and then travel to Tennessee to face the Titans.

Aaron Rodgers' Jets will then host the Patriots and the Broncos at home before a trip to London to face the Vikings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
