Aaron Rodgers sets the record straight on 'Cayenne Pepper Water' helping him perform during Texans game
Aaron Rodgers led the New York Jets to a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans to kick off Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season. The former Green Bay Packers quarterback went off against the 6-2 team that looked stronger on paper.
Rodgers turned a lot of heads after he revealed that Thomas Morstead gave him the 'fountain of youth,' cayenne pepper and water, and Thursday's game was seemingly an exhibit of its positive effects. Rodgers joined "The Pat McAfee Show" on Friday to talk about this 'secret' beverage.
"I don't know how much percentage I can give credit to the cayenne pepper, but Thomas wants me to go 100% just because he really wants all the credit with this, although he said he heard it from a woman who lives in Australia who's considered a cook," Rodgers said.
"So I said, 'Right in my alley.' ... This was the best run I've had in a while. Like, you know, I had a couple, like, pedestrian runs against New England. So that was actually semi-athletic last night."
Aaron Rodgers threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns while getting sacked twice. She also carried the ball once but lost one yard. Even so, the Jets returned from a 7-0 deficit in the first half. They scored 21 points, while the Texans only added six.
The defense dominated CJ Stroud. He only completed 11 of 30 pass attempts for 191 yards and zero touchdowns. He suffered a career-high eight sacks in a night that never worked for the offense.
Aaron Rodgers says JJ Watt's criticism ignited Jets' second-half comeback
After a complex first half, Aaron Rodgers said that the Jets players watched a video of JJ Watt criticizing the team and Rodgers for the 'fountain of youth' beverage.
"Guys were passing around the JJ Watt video, where he said, 'We shouldn't be favored.' All that and so a lot of slander toward JJ in the locker room," Rodgers said. "Oh my God! It started with Woody, he was holding it above his head, there was a Rocky montage from this Rocky III. It was a lot."
New York is now 3-6 after snapping their five-game losing streak. They will face the Arizona Cardinals next, trying to start a positive streak in the second half of the season.
