Aaron Rodgers speaks his mind about ongoing Tua Tagovailoa concussion saga

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has given his thoughts on Tua Tagovailoa being put in concussion protocol yet again this season. After the pair played against each other (Packers won 26-20), video surfaced of Tagovailoa getting the back of his head hit on the ground in the second quarter.

He played the remainder of the game. Yesterday, however, he was put in concussion protocol. This is the third time that Tagovailoa has been put in concussion protocol, with many now fearing for his long-term health.

What are Miami's Super Bowl odds?

Rodgers was speaking on his weekly spot on the Pat McAfee Show and gave his thoughts on what could possibly happen with Tagovailoa's career.

“Maybe its time to consider possibly shutting it down. Now, the eyes of the the NFL nation are probably on Miami now to see how they deal with this. And I like the kid. I think he's a real good kid. And I like the way that he speaks and represents his team and goes about his business."
"I like the kid & the way he goes about his business.. I hope he makes the right decision for him & I know he will"

Rodgers added:

"And I wish him, you know, all the healing necessary for his brain and, you know, just the patience and the ... and just to deal with this would be a difficult time, I'm sure, dealing with all the attention and the doctors and the decision on what to do.”

What will happen with Tagovailoa and his future this season?

Miami Dolphins v Los Angeles Chargers

This is possibly the hardest decision that the Miami Dolphins will face this year. Still well in the playoff hunt with two games to go as they face the New England Patriots and then the Buffalo Bills to close out the season.

But at what point does a player's health come first? Given Tagovailoa's history, as Rodgers stated, it could be wise to sit the quarterback down and say that he will not play again this season.

While that would seriously diminish the Dolphins' Super Bowl chances, a player's health, and long-term health at that, should surely come first, right?

The whole NFL will be watching to see what happens over the next few days. Tagovailoa has had multiple concussions this year, and with CTE being a serious issue in the NFL, perhaps it is time for Miami to shelve its franchise quarterback.
