Aaron Rodgers stops short of tampering in Davante Adams trade sweepstakes
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers wouldn't give much of a comment on Davante Adams' trade request. It has been reported that Adams has the Jets high on his wish list to be traded to.
Rodgers and Adams played with each other with the Green Bay Packers from 2014 until 2021. The two had amazing chemistry, and with Adams requesting a trade and the Jets offense struggling, many have thought a deal makes sense.
However, speaking to the media about Adams, Rodgers stopped short of making a pitch as he didn't want to be accused of tampering.
"I don't know how much I can say about it because of tampering. But we still have a great relationship. He's a great guy, great player and that's all I can say about it," Rodgers said.
Adams' trade request reportedly stems from the receiver being focused on winning a Super Bowl. The WR reportedly didn't believe in the Raiders' chances of a deep playoff run.
The star receiver has recorded 18 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown this season. He will not play in Week 5 due to a hamstring injury.
Aaron Rodgers takes blame for Jets struggling offense
The New York Jets entered the 2024 NFL season with expectations of competing for a Super Bowl. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was completely healthy after tearing his Achilles in Week 1 last season.
However, through four weeks, the Jets are 2-2 and coming off a disappointing 10-9 loss to the Broncos at home. It was another poor performance from the offense and Rodgers is taking the blame for it.
"No, not at all," Rodgers said about a possible letdown from the team against Denver, via the Jets' website. "That's a really good defense. When your defense holds 'em to 10, you've got to win the game 100 percent of the time. That's on the offense, on me. It's not good enough...
"The weather sucked, but so did some of my throws," Rodgers said. "We had some chances but we made way too many mental mistakes and some poor throws, and we just missed some easy stuff, protection stuff, route adjustments that should've been easy. Our focus wasn't as sharp as it was the first couple of weeks."
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets will head to London to play the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5. New York is a 2.5-point underdog. The Jets will then play the Buffalo Bills in Week 6 in a pivotal two-game stretch for New York.
