Aaron Rodgers suggests Jets are in a ‘dark’ place after sliding to 2-6 post 25-22 loss to Patriots
Aaron Rodgers was simply dominant on Sunday, completing 17 of 28 passing attempts for 233 yards and two touchdowns against the New England Patriots. And yet his New York Jets lost 22-25 after Rhamondre Stevenson sneaked in a rushing touchdown with only 22 seconds left.
In his post-game presser, the multiple-time MVP tried to make sense out of falling into a 2-6 record, tied with their divisional rivals, only saying:
"I've been in the darkness. You've got to go in there, make peace with it."
He continued:
"Offensively, our goal has gotta be score 30, no matter what... We have trusi in out defense and (special) teams. But we're not scoring 30. We're underachieving. This offense can do that every single week."
Connor Hughes gives damning opinion on Aaron Rodgers and Jets' loss to Patriots
In a related development, SNY's Connor Hughes had some harsh words for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.
Speaking after the game, Hughes said that the mood around the team was best exemplified by the sight of running back Breece Hall holding a towel over his head - shame:
"This is a team that, on paper, looks so dominant. A team that legitimately is one of the 3-5 capable of hoisting a Lombardi Trophy in February... And yet the same things continue to plague the team. Every week, instead of finding ways to win, the Jets are inventing new ways to lose."
He continued by explaining how difficult (if not improbable) the team's chances of making the playoffs let alone the Super Bowl would be:
"Technically, this isn't over yet. They could go on a run. They could make the playoffs. But what they need to do is go 8-1. And tnat might not even be enough. This team that began with such optimism - Superl Bowl talk (is) over potentially before Halloween. I dont' necessarily know if they're gonna find any (answers)."
Hughes' colleague Lucas Hutcherson also pinned some of the blame onto kicker Greg Zuerlein, who missed an extra point and field goal - his sixth and seventh failure:
"When a team is mired in a losing streak like the Jets have been, the last thing you need is for someone who has been so reliable in recent years to start slumping."
The Jets host the Texans this coming Thursday. Kickoff is at 8:15 PM on Amazon Prime.
