AJ Brown’s ‘shut up’ message doesn’t faze Shannon Sharpe

Shannon Sharpe wasted no time calling out AJ Brown's dramatic "shut up" moment on Sunday. On Monday's ESPN First Take, Sharpe fired a direct shot:

"You brought this on yourself. We didn't know there was an issue going on with Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown."

The drama erupted following weeks of speculation about tension between Brown and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. It started when teammate Brandon Graham initially suggested the two were feuding. Graham later apologized for his comments, but the media narrative had already caught fire.

The incident unfolded on Sunday, during the Eagles' 27-13 victory over the steelers" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-is-sponsored="false">Pittsburgh Steelers. With the game tied 3-3 in the first quarter, Hurts connected with AJ Brown for a crucial touchdown, followed by their synchronized celebration.

"That was our moment to tell everybody, shut up," Brown said in the post-match press conference.

The context runs deeper than a single game. AJ Brown and fellow receiver DeVonta Smith had publicly voiced frustration about the passing game after a narrow win against the Carolina Panthers.

Sharpe's critique cut deep.

"I want to see if everything is okay. If he wins once he gets minimal targets," he said. "Now, I saw what happened yesterday when he had 100 yards and a touchdown. What happens when you have four catches?"

Jalen Hurts, playing through a broken finger on his non-throwing hand, completed 25 of 32 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns. Brown and Smith surpassed 100 receiving yards – their fourth time this season and a new Eagles record.

With a 12-2 record, the Eagles are tied for the best mark in the NFC. Their 10-game winning streak includes victories over top teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Commanders, and the Steelers. Brown's performance was critical: eight receptions for 110 yards against Pittsburgh.

Despite the noise, the Eagles continue to prove their mettle. From a rocky 2-2 start that had fans calling for coach Nick Sirianni's dismissal to an unstoppable force, the team has silenced its critics.
