"ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK": Simone Biles stunned as husband Jonathan Owens converts blocked punt into TD
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles experienced a rush of excitement on Sunday as her husband, Jonathan Owens, scored a touchdown for the Chicago Bears against the Tennessee Titans. Owens scooped up the football on a blocked punt and returned it 21 yards for a TD in the third quarter to get Chicago within 17-10 with 9:07 left in the third quarter.
"I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK," Biles tweeted.
On Friday, Simone Biles responded to fans for trolling her over wearing a Green Bay Packers jacket to a Bears preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals last month. Owens played for Green Bay, the Bears' chief rival, last season. Biles' fashion choice resulted in massive trolling from NFL fans.
In an interview with TMZ, Biles, who won three gold medals at the Olympics, said she's updated her wardrobe:
"Yes, I have plenty (of Bears gear) now. so, don't you worry, guys!"
Dave Portnoy launched criticism at Simone Biles over wardrobe decision
Not just NFL fans, but Simone Biles' wrong outfit choice didn't land well with Dave Portnoy. In an episode of the "BFFs" podcast, Portnoy said:
"This would infuriate me if I was a Bears fan. ... Bears-Packers are the Hatfields and McCoys of the NFL, Red Sox-Yankees. So, you go to a Bears game on their sideline wearing their archrival's jacket, not the greatest."
Simone Biles could have avoided the backlash if she'd listened to her friend. In an episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks," a friend warned her about the outfit choice before the game:
“I would be taking that jacket off if I were you."
The Chicago Bears will next face the Houston Texans on Sept. 15 in Houston's NRG Stadium at 8:20 p.m. EST.
