Alvin Kamara potentially in huge trouble after assault victim demands jury trial - Report

Alvin Kamara is known for being one of the more elusive running backs on the field, but it seems he cannot elude a possible legal quandary from last year. The New Orleans Saints star could be heading to court, with the victim of an assault involving the running back seeking a jury trial.

According to ESPN Saints reporter Katherine Terrell, attorney Tony Buzbee of Texas and John Munoz of Louisiana have stated that the alleged victim has filed a lawsuit and is seeking a jury trial.

"Darnell Greene Jr., the alleged victim in Alvin Kamara's battery case in Las Vegas on the eve of the Pro Bowl, filed a civil suit against Kamara today in Orleans Parish civil district court. He requests a jury trial."

Per Terrell, the lawsuit against the five-time Pro Bowler lists the injuries suffered by Greene:

"The lawsuit alleges Greene suffered severe injuries to his neck, back, head, shoulder, knees, and face, including a 'disfiguring facial fracture to his right orbital bone, blunt force trauma to his head, multiple disc protrusions, and structural tears in his shoulder."

Lastly, the plaintiff is seeking both actual and exemplary damages in the suit:

"He is asking for more than $10 million: $5 million in actual damages for pecuniary losses, pain and suffering, disfigurement, mental anguish, and medical expenses and $5 million in exemplary damages."

What happened in Las Vegas involving Alvin Kamara & Darnell Greene?

Alvin Kamara and three others are accused of assaulting Darnell Greene in February. The incident took place outside Las Vegas nightclub Drai's After Dark at the Cromwell Hotel and Casino during Pro Bowl weekend.

Greene stated that he exited the club at about 6:30 AM on February 5 and joined a line at the elevator that included Alvin Kamara, Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Chris Lammons, and others. That's when he was, allegedly, badly assaulted.

Kamara was interrogated and arrested after the Pro Bowl while Lammons surrendered to police on an arrest warrant. Per an incident report filed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the Saints running back hit Greene around eight times. Three of those blows came with Greene on the ground.

Witness testimony and surveillance video acquired by police show the fight started when the 2017 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year and the three others were making their way to the elevator. He allegedly put his hand on Greene's chest, stopping him from getting into the elevator.

Greene pushed Kamara's hand off, according to the report. Greene asserts that he was pushed back from the elevator, and the first punch was thrown after that.

Based on surveillance video obtained by police, Kamara was not the first individual to swing, but he supposedly joined in and struck Greene several times. The victim, in his interview with police, remembered being punched and kicked by several people prior to falling down.

According to the footage, the Saints star kept punching Greene while he was on the ground. The three other suspects joined in and began stomping on his face, chest, and legs. While it doesn't look as though Kamara will get any discipline from the NFL, that could change if the case heads to trial.
