“It was pretty nuts to me” – Amid Buccaneers return rumors, Rob Gronkowski reveals two NFL teams came calling for him after viral tweet

Rob Gronkowski retired after 11 seasons in the NFL prior to the start of the season. However, the former four-time All-Pro tight end tweeted out that he was bored, leading to speculation of a possible comeback.

A pair of teams also thought Gronkowski was hinting at a possible return to the league. On the "Up and Adams Show," the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star commented that two teams have reached out to him to play this season. Here's what Gronkowski said:

"Two teams reached out, it was unbelievable. I won't say who, but yes, there was two teams. It was pretty nuts to me that everyone actually saw the tweet. It shows how far social media can go and how quick it can travel. I barely tweet, actually, I just tweet once in a while, but I'm kind of bored."

He continued:

"People took that as I was coming back to the football right away, and it was just mind-blowing how my agent hit me up. Two teams hit me up. It was just crazy, and my friends actually were hitting me up too."

While the former tight end didn't give out the team names, it shows that NFL executives feel the 33-year-old can still contribute. In his final two seasons in the league with the Buccaneers, Rob Gronkowski had a total of 100 receptions, 1,425 yards, and 13 touchdowns.

I’m kinda bored 😐…

He won his fourth Super Bowl in his first season with the Buccaneers in the 2020 - 2021 season. The question remains as to which teams reached out to Gronkowski.

Which teams could've reached out to Rob Gronkowski?

Looking at the teams who possibly reached out to Rob Gronkowski, one team might have been the Cincinnati Bengals. Gronkowski spoke highly of quarterback Joe Burrow in an interview with CBS back in April of this year.

Gronkowski said:

"I love the way Joe Burrow presents himself on the field. Regardless of the outcome, the Super Bowl was a great game and he left his best out there. I've watched him since college, he's confident in the pocket, and he just slings it out into the play. I love his swag, he's killing it right now and I think we're going to see a bright future ahead for him."

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come to mind as another team, as former teammate Tom Brady could still use another offensive weapon. They played alongside one another with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

For now, it will remain a mystery as to who contacted Rob Gronkowski.
