NFL analyst claims incessant Russell Wilson criticism comes down to racism

Russell Wilson's Denver Broncos trade hasn't panned out quite as people imagined it would. The nine-time Pro Bowler has struggled to find his form early on and had a historically poor second half during the recent defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Traded from the Seattle Seahawks for a boatload of high draft picks and players, Wilson has simply not been able to cook. But NFL analyst Bomani Jones feels all the criticism surrounding the quarterback is unwarranted.

On his The Right Time podcast, Jones went on to say that all the backlash Wilson is receiving is down to racism:

"People do not do this to white quarterbacks no matter how obnoxious or disliked they are."

The Broncos QB has faced a lot of flak on social media as well due to his self-coined 'Mr. Unlimited' alter-ego. Whether or not the trolling is deserved is a matter of personal opinion. But if Wilson has to shut down his haters, the only way out is by coming back stronger than ever.

Hamstring injury another stumbling block in Russell Wilson's path

Things went from bad to worse for Russell Wilson once he suffered a serious hamstring injury during his side's recent loss to the Chargers. During the MNF tie, the quarterback injured the muscle and was listed as questionable by the Broncos for their game this week against the New York Jets.

The quarterback was limited in practice but stated in a press conference that he is doing all he can to be ready for the game. If the former Seahawks star is unable to recover on-time, it's likely that backup QB Brett Rypien will take over as the starter against the New York Jets.

The Broncos have a few other injury headaches as well, with Caden Sterns, Deshawn Williams, Josey Jewell, Quinn Meinerz and D.J. Jones all listed as questionable for Sunday's game. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Russell Wilson.
