Andy Dalton contract: How much will veteran NFL QB earn with Panthers?
Andy Dalton won't be back in New Orleans next season. The veteran quarterback inked a two-year deal with the Carolina Panthers on the second day of free agency.
Per Adam Schefter, the deal is for two years, $10 million, with $8 million fully guaranteed and up to $17 million with incentives.
Dalton was expected to leave New Orleans this offseason. They inked former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr to a five-year, $150 million contract to be their next franchise quarterback.
The team also re-signed quarterback Jameis Winston to a one-year, $8 million deal to return for another season.
Winston will serve as Carr's backup, and Dalton will be the backup to whoever the Panthers pick as their starter for 2023.
Carolina traded up to the first-overall pick with the Chicago Bears last week. They moved up from nine to one and sent the Panthers wide receiver DJ Moore, two first-round draft picks, and two second-round draft picks.
