Andy Reid wants Super Bowl-winning HC bank in the NFL (and it’s not Bill Belichick)
Andy Reid is quickly climbing up the ranks of the greatest head coaches of all time. If the Kansas City Chiefs become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls, there will be a lot of people who will begin to rate him higher or on par with Bill Belichick.
Belichick is currently without a job but is expected to be back in the NFL next year. There is another Super Bowl-winning head coach who is currently without a job, and it is Jon Gruden.
The former Las Vegas Raiders head coach has been without a job since his infamous exit in 2021. Gruden was recently spotted at the Chiefs training camp in the team's gear, and many were surprised given the rivalry between the Raiders and the reigning Super Bowl champions.
As per Chiefs insider PJ Green, Reid hopes Gruden gets another head coaching job in the NFL soon. He said the following about his former rival:
"He's a heck of a coach."
Gruden worked with Derek Carr last season, and despite all the controversy surrounding him, the former Raiders quarterback has a great relationship with his former head coach.
The 60-year-old head coach won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002. He currently has a record of 117-112 as a head coach in the NFL. Gruden's second term with the Raiders was not successful as the team went 22-31 in four seasons before he resigned in 2021.
Does Andy Reid have a legitimate argument over Bill Belichick?
Bill Belichick has won six Super Bowls as a head coach in the NFL, and based on that, he is the greatest head coach of all time. However, his lack of success without Tom Brady is a huge talking point for people who believe Andy Reid is better.
Belichick is 82-98 without Brady as his quarterback, and in the last few years in New England, we saw how poorly things turned out without the legendary quarterback.
We know that Andy Reid also doesn't have a single Super Bowl win without Patrick Mahomes; however, his teams have always been good with different quarterbacks. The Chiefs head coach has a record of 182-110 without Mahomes and made one Super Bowl and five conference championship games.
If the Chiefs win another Super Bowl this season, then Andy Reid will have a legit argument over Bill Belichick. Moreover, the Chiefs head coach is 66 years old and could coach for plenty more years, allowing him to win more Super Bowls.
