Antonio Brown yet again goes after Derek Carr as doubts continue to linger over QB's future with Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is the newest target of former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown. On Sunday morning, Brown took to his official Twitter page and posted a clearly photoshopped image of Carr to make it appear as if he had gained weight. The photo was also posted to Brown's Instagram page.
Brown captioned the photo by stating that he was planning on betting $10,000 on Derek "Carb," a reference to carbohydrates and insinuating that the quarterback was overweight.
"Betting 10k today on Derek Carb"
As with other posts and statements that Brown has made in the past, the reason for this attack on Derek Carr is unclear. The two were teammates during Brown's short tenure with the Raiders after he was traded by the Steelers.
The two never appeared to have any issues and the quarterback always seemed to support Brown.
Antonio Brown hasn't played in the National Football League since his infamous departure from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium last January. The incident in which he was upset with his playing time and took his jersey and pads off and ran off the field during the game.
This post also comes as criticism of Derek Carr continues to grow as the Las Vegas Raiders' woes continue this season. This is after so much promise was bestowed upon them this offseason.
Will the Raiders trade QB Derek Carr?
The Las Vegas Raiders are 2-7 this season, considerably worse than what anyone had thought would be their lot. With a new head coach in Josh McDaniels and the addition of wide receiver Davante Adams, the Raiders have performed far below what they appear to be capable of.
Last week, the Raiders quarterback took to the podium and was emotional while speaking to the media. He expressed how he felt about the Raiders' difficulties this season and it was clear that he knew they could do better.
Yet, could a change at quarterback be next? The Raiders could decide to trade Derek Carr after this season. But they will have just three days after the Super Bowl to make that decision.
If they don't trade him, they will owe him $32.9 million for next season and $7.5 million guaranteed money for 2024. They will avoid the salary cap hit if they can trade him. The only issue with a trade is that he has a full no-trade clause, so he essentially chooses where he would play next.
This could complicate a trade and force the Raiders to take a lower-valued trade just to get a deal complete, if that is what they decide to do.
