Are there any white cornerbacks in the NFL? Rams HC Sean McVay put on the spot with bizarre question
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay recently spoke in an interview with Barstool Sports podcaster Caleb Pressley. One of the things that stood out in the interview was when McVay was asked if there are any white cornerbacks in the NFL.
McVay was first asked by Pressley if he thinks white people are worse at the cornerback position.
The coach said:
"Uh, that is difficult to say, there's a lot of really good players in this league, I don't know if you can say that."
He was then asked if there were any white corners in the NFL, to which he replied:
"You know, there's a lot of really good football players in this league, can't really think of anybody on our team in those situations. We were having a nice dialogue and then you went full 'how awkward can I make me feel right now during this.'"
There is one white cornerback in the NFL on a team and that's Troy Apke, who plays for the Washington Commanders.
Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams are struggling through the first nine weeks of the 2022-23 season
Despite the fun and games in the video posted by Pressly, the Rams aren't having a great time as they dropped to 3-5 on the season following their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Rams suffered a 16-13 road loss that put them in third place in the NFC West division. The San Francisco 49ers are in second place at 4-4 and the Seattle Seahawks are in first place with an impressive 6-3 record.
This isn't how the Rams expected their season to start, and it seems like they are having a Super Bowl hangover. At 3-5, they have as many losses as they did last season when they went 12-5.
There is still a second half of the season left and the Rams could flip a switch and maybe make a late playoff run.
