At what age did Peyton Manning win his final Super Bowl? Legendary Broncos quarterback retired at the very top in 2016

Peyton Manning is a Hall of Fame enshrinee and even if he had not won a Super Bowl, he deserved a place there. He changed the quarterback position as we know it. He made play calling at the line of scrimmage an art and elevated the position to its current importance. His legacy is far beyond how many Lombardi Trophies he lifted.

But he did win two Super Bowls in his career, which further burnishes his legacy. He won one with the Indianapolis Colts in 2007, where he was the Super Bowl MVP. He won another with the Denver Broncos in 2016. In the process, he became the first starting quarterback to win two Super Bowls with two different franchises. He then retired after that season, with his legendary status secured.

Peyton Manning was 39 years old in Super Bowl 50

When Peyton Manning won Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos, he was 39 years old. He turned 40 the month after that. At the time, he was the oldest ever Super Bowl winning quarterback. He has since been eclipsed by Tom Brady with the New England Patriots and then again with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady's win in Super Bowl LV also made him the second starting quarterback to win the Super Bowl with two franchises after Manning.

Oldest QBs to start a Super Bowl ...

1) Tom Brady, LV
2) Tom Brady, LIII
3) Tom Brady, LII
4) Peyton Manning, 50
5) Tom Brady, LI
6) John Elway, XXXIII
7) Tom Brady, XLIX

Pretty obscene.

Peyton Manning retired at the pinnacle of acheivement in 2016

In Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers, Peyton Manning was not at the peak of his powers, unlike two years before that. Two years prior, he was the NFL MVP and led the Denver Broncos to a Super Bowl defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks.

Against Carolina in 2016, the Broncos were led by a ferocious defense coming up against that season's NFL MVP, Cam Newton. Von Miller and the defense stifled him as they won the Super Bowl 24-10. Peyton Manning played his part in the win but it was clear by that time that his powers were on the wane.

Realizing that, he called time on his career after the victory. That made him the second Denver Broncos quarterback to go out on a high of winning the Super Bowl like John Elway. Since then, we have enjoyed Manning in multiple activities, including most recently seeing him on ManningCast with his brother Eli Manning.

Although Tom Brady may now have equalled his record for Super Bowl wins with different franchises and beaten him when it came to age, Peyton Manning was the first one to do so. As in many other quarterback stats, Manning led the way in what could be possible. He retired with career stats of 71,940 passing yards, 539 touchdowns and 251 interceptions

It seems Brady is trying to copy Manning in retiring at the very top after returning to the NFL this offseason after a short retirement. We will see if he can win another Super Bowl in the coming months.
