
Austin Ekeler's wife Melanie drops heartfelt message for Commanders RB after NFC title loss vs Eagles
Austin Ekeler made the longest playoff run of his NFL career in his first season with the Washington Commanders. After his team's 55-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC championship game on Sunday, his wife Melanie Ekeler shared a sweet message for the running back.
On Monday, Melanie posted a photo of herself embracing her husband. In the caption, she shared her pride for Austin and the amazing season he had with the Commanders.
Melanie also celebrated his eighth season in the NFL.
"This was such an incredible season. I am beyond proud of you @austinekeler Year 8 in the books!" Melanie wrote.

Ekeler had just eight carries for 15 yards in the NFC championship game along with an unfortunate fumble after forcing the Eagles to punt in the fourth quarter. Austin signed a two-year $8.43 million deal with the Washington Commanders in March.

Each week during this season, Melanie Ekeler shared her gameday experience and outfits. She continued that trend in the postseason as she posted gameday videos.
On Sunday, she shared a clip where she and Austin Ekeler decided on their outfits. The couple chose a blue, plaid suit with a white T-shirt underneath and brown dress shoes.
Melanie added a sweet caption, sharing how excited she was for her husband to reach this stage in the playoffs for the first time in his career.
"If you made it to the end of this video, we went to Benihana š¤£ I am beyond proud of Austin and am so excited for today!! This is the farthest Austin has made it in his career, and I couldnāt be more happy for him. It has been such a privilege to watch this team thrive this year. ā¤ļø #HTTC," Melanie captioned.
Ekeler and the Washington Commanders will now head into the offseason after exceeding expectations in 2024.
