“People thought I was crazy”: Baker Mayfield recalls bizarre UFO sighting during trip with wife Emily
Baker Mayfield is looking forward to a successful campaign in the upcoming NFL season. While he is enjoying the offseason, he treated fans to the recall of a spooky off-field encounter he had in the past.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback was speaking on the Pardon My Take podcast. Mayfield recalled sighting a UFO during a trip with his wife Emily.
“Driving home from dinner in Austin. When we’re driving home, we’re about to cross the dam between Lake Travis and Lake Austin. And we’re looking out. It’s really dark out there. The screen on the car’s real bright. Emily’s in the passenger seat, she’s looking at her phone," Baker Mayfield said.
"This circle-shaped object, bright as hell, literally just goes straight down. It was so bright that she looked up and saw it too. And it just completely disappeared. I put that out on Twitter. People thought I was hammered. I was just driving home, not under the influence either. But there were other people that reached out and said they saw the same thing," the quarterback concluded.
When it comes to things like UFOs, many people have unusual opinions. And sometimes, people who share their stories about encountering one are often shrugged off as being delusional or gullible. Mayfield was thought of as same.
"People thought I was crazy at that point," Mayfield added.
Though UFO sightings are rare, they have been extensively documented in the USA. Opinions are divided about their reality. However, they do pique the interest of a large number of people.
Baker Mayfield's wife, Emily assumed QB was "playboy athlete" early in their relationship
Baker Mayfield and Emily met for the first time in 2017 through a common friend. The two started seeing each other, and Mayfield's gestures, like following and unfollowing her on Instagram, created a wrong image in front of her. Emily talked about this during an interview with ESPN.
"I was assuming he'd be the typical playboy athlete," Emily said.
Mayfield invited Emily to watch him play in the Rose Bowl. Almost a day after the Rose Bowl, the two went on a date and the QB moved in with her almost three days later. Six months later, the couple exchanged rings and married in 2019.
