Baker Mayfield and wife Emily's $17,900 turned lifesavers for Space Coast Vipers: Report
Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily created their foundation to give back to others in any way that they could. In September 2024, they learned that the Space Coast Vipers, a high school football team, were about to turn away athletes as they didn't have enough equipment for all players.
The Space Coast Vipers, who were 1-8 last season, received a donation of $17,900 from the "Baker and Emily Mayfield Foundation." The contribution was enough to provide every player brand with new equipment, including pads and helmets. That clearly turned the trajectory of the team, as the Space Coast Vipers are now headed to the SSAA 1A State Championship.
The official Instagram page of the "Baker and Emily Mayfield Foundation" reshared the team's big accomplishment.
“After hearing that a local high school might have to turn kids away due to lack of equipment, the Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation knew they had to step in,” a spokesperson from the Baker and Emily Mayfield Foundation said.
The Space Coast Vipers, who are based on the east coast of the state in Cocoa, Florida, have a 9-3 record and this is their first ever appearance in the State Championship.
Emily and Baker Mayfield teamed up with Kirk Cousins for hurricane relief
The Tampa Bay area has suffered the effects of three hurricanes so far this year. In the wake of the damage and hardship faced by so many afterward, Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily, partnered with an NFC South rival to give back.
In October, the Mayfield's along with Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins and his wife Julie, each donated $50,000 to Team Rubicon. The announcement came just before the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off.
"Ahead of tonight’s game, @bakermayfield and @kirkcousins are joining forces for a cause off the field—Hurricane Helene relief with @teamrubicon. Both the Mayfield and Cousins families have donated $50,000 each and encourage you to give what you can too."
Team Rubicon was founded by veterans of the United States military and is one of the first organizations to respond to natural disasters. The organization helps clean up areas and roads, freeing them from debris and starting the recovery process.
