Bengals defense trash talk Anthony Richardson during joint practice with Colts
Anthony Richardson didn't perform well in the recently held joint practice between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Indianapolis Colts. The Bengals players made sure to let the opposing quarterback know about that.
Richardson completed only 10/20 passes with one touchdown and an interception. He spent most of the time running with the football, and the Bengals' defense took verbal shots at the Colts quarterback.
“That’s all he do is run.” said Cam Taylor-Britt about the Colts QB
“Throw the damn ball.” B.J. Hill said. “He only throws to spots. He doesn’t throw to his receivers," added Geno Stone
These types of practices are a great learning curve for Richardson. He missed most of his rookie season due to a shoulder injury, and the team will hope that joint practices and preseason games will go a long way in helping him get settled before Week 1.
The Colts will face the Bengals tonight in their final preseason game. Richardson is expected to play, and the quarterback will hope to put on a show against the defense that taunted him a few days ago.
Anthony Richardson, Colts season preview
The Colts drafted Anthony Richardson with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. In the four games that he played in his rookie season, Richardson threw for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception with a passer rating of 87.3. He also had 136 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries.
Richardson could be a top NFL quarterback if he stays healthy. Hopefully, he will learn from dealing with a concussion and a season-ending shoulder injury during his rookie season and avoid putting himself in dangerous situations.
The Colts did fairly well without their rookie quarterback last season and finished 9-8. Now that Richardson is healthy, head coach Shane Steichen has the capability of making the team compete for the division title.
The team will begin their season with a game against the Houston Texans, which will give us an idea of what we can expect from the Colts and Anthony Richardson this season.
The AFC South has three teams contending for the division title, and the Tennessee Titans could also surprise many if Will Levis plays well. This division has the potential to be one of the exciting ones in the league as C.J. Stroud, Trevor Lawrence, Anthony Richardson, and Levis all have the potential to be star quarterbacks in the league.
