Bengals OC makes feelings known on Joe Burrow, HC Zac Taylor’s heated sideline moment that went viral

A clip of Joe Burrow's heated exchange with Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor in Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans went viral. In the video, the head coach could be seen saying something to the QB, while he seemed to bark back.

On Monday, Bengals OC Dan Pitcher shared his perspective on the incident between the Bengals' star and the head coach.

"It definitely happens more than what is perceived by the public. I mean, he and I have gotten into it a couple times. You know, the camera probably wouldn't have been on us because I'm not the head coach."

However, he clarified that the arguments only happened because Joe Burrow is an intense competitor and wants to win games. And when he does not, or he disagrees with the coach on the best way to win games, arguments happen.

"That's kind of - it's just intense competitors, Joe probably being the most intense competitor I've ever been around, and it happens, man. They probably happen more than what gets reported on."

After the game, Joe Burrow himself clarified his heated moment with his HC.

"I was just frustrated in the day that we had on offense. It was too sloppy. We had too many penalties. Too many procedural penalties. I had too many turnovers. It was just a frustrating day on offense," Burrow explained.

Joe Burrow sets new franchise record to keep Bengals' playoff hopes alive

Joe Burrow led the Bengals to a 37-27 win over the Titans on Sunday as he finished with 271 yards and three touchdowns.

With those three TDs, the Bengals QB broke his own franchise record for most touchdowns in a single season. In 2022, he set the franchise record at 35, and now in 2024, he already has scored 36 touchdowns with three more games to go.

The win was the Bengals' second in a row. At 6-8, their slim playoff hopes are still alive.

“We know the chances are very slim,” Burrow told reporters after the game. “What I’m focused on right now is playing as good as we can play myself, playing up to my standard. That’s why I was so frustrated because I didn’t feel like we did that today.”

NFL.com currently has the Bengals' playoff probability at just 6%. Cincy will need to run the table in its last three games to stand any chance of making the postseason. The Bengals next take on the Cleveland Browns before ending with the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
