Bill Belichick lays gameplan for Ravens to shut down Jayden Daniels ahead of SNF clash
Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has taken the league by storm. The rookie quarterback is off to a 4-1 start with the Commanders and looks like the early favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
This week, the Commanders face the Baltimore Ravens, a tough team known for their defense. The Ravens are 3-2 and are on a three-game win streak heading into Sunday's game.
Previewing Sunday's game between the Ravens and the Commanders, former NFL coach Bill Belichick spoke about how opposing defenses can shut down Daniels.
"You do not want to let Daniels run up the middle of the defense," Belichick said. "This guy is really, really fast. This is where Daniels still has some trouble. We're three-on-three up on top and three-on-two down here on the bottom. ... This is a side Daniels should be reading, but he stuck down here. Reading coverages, following his progression and just in general throwing the ball inside is not a strength of his."
The Ravens are big home favorites at 6.5 points. Sunday's game will take place at M&T Bank Stadium with a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff
Jayden Daniels looks like he could win Rookie of the Year
The Washington Commanders haven't had a franchise quarterback in a while. Just ask Terry McLaurin.
Jayden Daniels seems like he can be that guy. Joining a Washington roster that didn't have the most talented team on paper, Daniels has led the Commanders to a 4-1 record, which is in first place in the NFC East.
Daniels became the first QB to rush for 80 yards and two touchdowns in his NFL debut. In Week 3, he set an NFL record, completing 91.3% of passes in a game. He was named Offensive Rookie of the Month in September.
Daniels has thrown for 1,135 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for 300 yards and four touchdowns. He's the first quarterback to throw for 1,000 yards and rush for 250 yards in his first five games.
Daniels has had a fantastic start to his NFL career. If he continues playing the way he has been, he could easily win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
