Bill Belichick raises red flags over Raiders’ asking price on Davante Adams trade, cautions against Haason Reddick-like problem
The 2024 NFL trade deadline is less than a month away, and Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is expected to be traded. After being unhappy in Las Vegas, Adams has made it public that he'd like to be traded. He was even out of the Raiders' loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
While a trade is likely to happen, the Raiders have reportedly been asking for a second-round pick, plus another pick, and want the team that's acquiring Adams to take on his current contract.
Former NFL coach Bill Belichick joined The Pat McAfee Show and warned any team looking to acquire him not to wind up like the Jets with Haason Reddick, who is holding out due to not having a new contract.
Belichick said:
"I think the second-round pick, I'd be surprised that they can get that for him. And then the question is, does Adams want a new contract? As a team, you got to be careful. Do you want to get in the same situation that the Jets are in with Reddick, where you trade for a player and then you can't get a contract done with them?
"All you've done is just absorb a problem and lose a draft choice; you haven't really solved one."
The Jets acquired Reddick this offseason from the Philadelphia Eagles, and wanting a new contract, he never signed one with the Jets. He's currently holding out while the Jets sent the Eagles a 2026 third-round pick for him.
Davante Adams could be traded in the next two days with the Saints and Jets as the favorites to land him: Report
Davante Adams' trade talk is starting to heat up. The Athletic reported Monday that an Adams trade could happen within the next two days.
The top two teams in the running are the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints.
This makes sense as it would reunite Adams with one of his former quarterbacks.
Adams was teammates with Derek Carr at Fresno State and then played with Carr before he was traded to the Saints. Adams played with Aaron Rodgers from 2014-2021, and being traded to the Jets would reunite him with Rodgers.
Where do you think Davante Adams will be traded to?
