"Is it like having an orgasm?" - Bill Simmons draws wild analogy for NFL players making costly touchback errors

Sports analyst Bill Simmons doesn't understand why NFL players drop the ball before getting into the endzone. Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was the latest NFL player to drop the ball before the endzone.

The ball ended up going through the endzone and forcing a touchback. That proved to be a crucial point of the game as the Denver Broncos rallied to beat the Colts.

Following the error, Simmons said on "The Bill Simmons Podcast" that he doesn't understand why players drop the ball before going into the endzone, and why it continues to happen.

"Do people blackout when they’re about to score?" He asked. "It’s the only thing I can think of, is it like having an orgasm? Where you just kind of lose perspective, like, 'Aaahhhh,' and you just lose the ball? What other explanation could there be? Do you literally, like, blackout?"

Many NFL fans have wondered the same thing, as players can simply just give the ball to the ref in the endzone to make sure they score. But, despite all the errors, NFL players continue to drop the ball before the endzone which forces touchbacks.

Jonathan Taylor knows he made a costly mistake and says it can't happen. Taylor appeared to rush for a 41-yard touchdown which would've made the Colts' lead 14 points. But, he dropped the ball at the one-yard line and it fumbled through the endzone, resulting in a touchback.

"It just can't happen, no matter the game, no matter the scenario," Taylor said, via ESPN. "You could be up by 50, down by 50, playoff game, first game of the season. That should never happen ... Sometimes, someone gives you their best and your best just wasn't good enough. But when you hurt yourself like that, that one hurts."

Taylor says he was unaware that he even dropped the ball before the endzone.

"I didn't know until they started saying they're reviewing it," he said. "I'm thinking, 'Why are they reviewing it?'"

The play ended up being costly as the Broncos were able to rally and beat the Colts. Had Indianapolis gone up 14 and had the momentum, perhaps the game goes in a different direction. Indianapolis is currently 6-8 and outside the playoffs.
