Bills pass rusher Von Miller addresses retirement rumors in wake of suffering second season-ending injury since 2020

Von Miller is at a ripe retirement age of 33. When 2023 rolls around, he will be 34 years old, leading many to wonder if his latest setback will be the final one. Speaking "The Rich Eisen Show," show host Rich Eisen directly asked the former Super Bowl MVP if he was thinking about hanging it up.

Miller emphatically denied the idea, claiming he needed to play football for several more years, so his kids would remember it:

"I got a six-year deal. And right when I signed this, my mindset was to play all six years. That's another thing that really just keeps me in a great place mentally is knowing that I would be able to come back and have multiple shots at this thing. So, no, I'm not down. I know I need to play, at least, four or five years for [my son] to remember what I'm doing."

When will Bills LB Von Miller be able to play again?

Initially, doctors felt that Von Miller's injury to his leg would allow him to see the field again this season. However, upon further inspection, they discovered that the pass rusher had a torn ACL, effectively ending his season. As it stands, he is staring down nearly a year of recovery, if all goes according to other ACL tear recovery experiences of other players.

Bills' LB Von Miller did not tear his ACL, but there is other damage that doctors are reviewing to determine how much time he will miss and for now he is out indefinitely, per sources. He could be out a couple of weeks, it could be season ending; more info still being gathered.

Former teammate Odell Beckham Jr. could be the best example to draw from in terms of recent precedent. Beckham tore his ACL in the Super Bowl in early February. Ten months later, the wide receiver is said by many to not be fully healed. However, he could return to the field before the final snap of the 2022 NFL season.

That said, Beckham is 30, while the pass rusher is 33. Many would say the more advanced age could slow down the recovery somewhat. Regardless, the linebacker is not throwing in the towel and is hoping to be back on the gridiron soon.
