Bills reveal Damar Hamlin’s first message to teammates after FaceTime during team meeting
Damar Hamlin has made a remarkable recovery after collapsing on the field due to cardiac arrest. The 24-year-old Buffalo Bills safety was in critical condition for hours, with fans, family and fellow teammates waiting for an update with bated breath.
According to recent reports, Hamlin is recovering well. While he was speaking and interacting via writing earlier, the young athlete has made a better recovery since then. In fact, Hamlin recently spoke to his teammates from the hospital.
Damar Hamlin FaceTimed with players and coaches, while relaying a special message to his team:
"Love you boys".
Considering Hamlin's recent scare, it might be difficult to communicate for some time.
When will Damar Hamlin recover completely?
Despite Hamlin having regained consciousness, he still remains in intensive care for now. He has, however, shown a decent amount of recovery and seems to be doing well neurologically.
After writing to communicate, his breathing tube was removed overnight.
While it might take weeks or months to recover completely, this is certainly a positive step in the correct direction.
“Damar’s breathing tube was removed overnight. He continues to progress remarkably in his recovery," the team said in a statement. "His neurologic function remains intact and he has been able to talk to his family and care team.”
Everyone has been praying for Hamlin's health, hoping for the young star to recover quickly.
In a recent message to a NFL National reporter, Hamlin's uncle Dorian ended up thanking everyone for their well wishes. Taking the severity of the situation into consideration, Dorian believes everyone's well wishes certainly helped:
“We are absolutely blessed. I believe that the prayers he received from everyone across America has truly impacted his miraculous recovery," he said. "We are forever grateful for the concern and compassion everyone has showed this past week. Talking with my nephew has been an amazing experience this morning".
As the week progresses, one can expect more updates on Damar Hamlin's condition.
