"Bo Nix is a stud": NFL insider full buys into preseason hype around Broncos rookie

The Denver Broncos drafted quarterback Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. During his first preseason game, the youngster looked the part.

Nix has been impressing coaches, players and the media around the league. NFL insider Diana Russini showed her support for Nix as well as Zach Wilson, who seems to be "rejuvenated" in Denver's system.

Russini posted on X:

"Bo Nix is a stud. He operates in this Sean Payton offense like a veteran. It would be a surprise if he’s not starter in Week 1. Zach Wilson is also having a great camp with Denver. Strong arm, his throws on time, asking good questions. One coach told me he is rejuvenated."

In a loaded quarterback draft class, Nix was the last quarterback taken in the first round, with six NFL QBs being selected overall in the first round.

Nix made his NFL preseason debut last week against the Indianapolis Colts and completed 15-of-21 passes for 125 yards while adding 17 rushing yards on three attempts.

Nix served as the second-string quarterback in Denver's preseason debut against the Colts. Jarrett Stidham, who started the last two games for the Broncos last season as quarterback, started last week's game, completing 4-of-7 passes for 57 yards and an interception.

Wilson completed 10-of-13 passes for 117 yards. The Broncos beat the Colts 34-30.

Last Friday, before the Denver Broncos' preseason game, coach Sean Payton announced that Stidham would start the first preseason game while Nix would start the second.

If Nix can have another solid performance with Denver's first team this Saturday, against the Green Bay Packers, he could do enough to start in the Broncos' final pre-season game. This would give him the upper hand to start in the regular season.

Whoever will start this season for Denver at quarterback will be replacing Russell Wilson, who was the quarterback the last two seasons. Denver acquired Wilson before the start of the 2022 season to become their franchise quarterback and even extended him.

After underperforming for two seasons and refusing a paycut at the end of last season, the Broncos released him.

In the off-season, they added Zach Wilson via trade and then drafted Bo Nix with their first-round pick.
