Brandon Aiyuk to Commanders? Washington GM addresses 49ers WR’s TikTok stunt with Jayden Daniels
Brandon Aiyuk's future with the San Francisco 49ers has been an offseason storyline for quite some time. However, the twists keep coming. The 49ers wide receiver allegedly posted a clip of the Washington Commanders' practice on social media, prompting a response from the team's general manager.
According to Ben Standig, a reporter on the team, via Twitter/X, Commanders GM Adam Peters said the following:
"We handled it internally and are unconcerned about it."
Aiyuk is a friend of Jayden Daniels. The two have posted clips of them chatting in the past on TikTok, including about Aiyuk's status with the 49ers, but it appears Daniels was not directly implicated in the practice incident.
Of course, posting clips of practice on social media is a massive no-no as a general rule. Media members have strict rules on what they can film. Any teams that post their own practices online ruin their element of surprise. Any posts are usually carefully vetted and edited to hide any hints about what plays teams will attempt to run in the regular season.
What could a Brandon Aiyuk trade look like for Commanders?
The 49ers wide receiver might be on the precipice of moving from one side of the country to the other. However, nothing is confirmed. That said, before anything concrete happens for the wide receiver, the teams would need to agree to a trade.
Aiyuk is too valuable for the team to simply cut, so a trade would need to be worked out. However, what would that deal look like?
Brock Purdy's wide receiver would likely cost the Commanders at least two first-round picks and perhaps one more Day Two pick. Then, upon arriving, the receiver would require a new deal.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, such a deal could cost the Commanders as much as $28 million per year.
If Brandon Aiyuk was added, he would join Commanders star Terry McLaurin. For the last few years, McLaurin has been a magnet for double teams and without another star on the team to split the defense, the team's offense has largely been stuck in second gear.
Adding Aiyuk adds a potential opportunity to loosen up the secondary, creating a boom for him, McLaurin, and Jayden Daniels.
