Brandon Aiyuk's agent shoots down report linking Steelers with blockbuster trade for 49ers WR
San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been at the center of many trade rumors.
Earlier this week, NFL/NBA analyst Chase Senior of Chat Sports reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers are aggressively pursuing Aiyuk. He said that the Steelers, who hold the No. 20 overall pick in the draft, would be surprised if they couldn't land the star receiver in a trade.
Upon hearing the news, Aiyuk's agent, Ryan Williams, shot down those rumors. He claimed Senior's report was incorrect and denied any truth to it.
"Another “report” that couldn’t be more incorrect. Fictional “journalism” should really stop," Williams Tweeted.
Brandon Aiyuk trade rumors: Which teams have been linked with the WR so far?
According to BetUS, the five teams with the best odds to trade for Brandon Aiyuk are the Pittsburgh Steelers (+200), Carolina Panthers (+600), New England Patriots (+600), Arizona Cardinals (+700) and Los Angeles Chargers (+900.)
Another team not on the odds list that has been linked to Aiyul this offseason is the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 49ers reportedly sought the Jags' first-round choice in this year's draft, as well as wide receiver Zay Jones, in exchange.
In four seasons in the NFL, Aiyuk has had 269 receptions for 3,931 yards and 25 receiving touchdowns. In addition, he has 117 passing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
49ers reportedly 'not entertaining' any offers for Brandon Aiyuk
According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, Brandon Aiyuk hasn't requested a trade from the team, despite rumors.
He also said that many "receiver needy" teams have reached out to the San Francisco 49ers, inquiring about Aiyuk's availability. Despite there being a lot of interest from multiple teams, the 49ers have not entertained talks.
Again, rumors are just rumors, and the NFL Draft a week from today should give us a better idea of where the 49ers and Aiyuk stand.
Could they trade Aiyuk on draft night? Could they select a WR looking to replace him? Or could they select a different position and turn down multiple offers from him? We'll find out next week.
