Brandon Aiyuk's girlfriend Rochelle delivers major injury update on $120,000,000 49ers WR
A lot was expected of the San Francisco 49ers this year when they chose to retain most of the core that saw them go all the way to the Super Bowl LVIII. They ultimately fell short of lifting the Lombardi Trophy at Allegiant Stadium but the Niners decided they would run it back with the likes of Brandon Aiyuk (who angled for a trade this offseason), Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, and of course, Brock Purdy.
A four-year, $120 million extension, as per ESPN, for Aiyuk was the Niners' way of showing the NFL they meant business this year. However, the wheels came off their challenge to make the playoffs pretty early after Christian McCaffrey missed a large part of the season. Then, in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in October, Aiyuk suffered an injury to his right leg, tearing his MCL and ACL.
In a video posted on TikTok, Aiyuk's girlfriend, Rochelle, detailed how his injury was more severe than expected.
"NOT how we anticipated the remainder of Year 5 going, but we got you boo.
"It was a bit more severe than expected. MCL tear, ACL tear, multiple meniscus tears."
She added that Aiyuk's surgery was a long one and the surgeons had to do a lot of work to "reconstruct everything."
"But the surgery was a success," she wrote on TikTok.
Aiyuk ended the season with 25 catches for 374 yards. He faces a long road back to the field after undergoing surgery to repair his ACL but has the support of his girlfriend, Rochelle, who delivered an update on the WR this week.
San Francisco 49ers face range of questions for 2025
On the Richard Sherman podcast this week, after the Niners' loss to the Bills under the bright lights of primetime football, the former 49ers cornerback gave head coach Kyle Shanahan a reality check over a pretty big set of dilemmas for 2025.
Sherman said:
"This is going to be tough questionalater on in the season. What are you going to do with some of these guys. Whose salary you eat next year. Who they’re moving on from. If Christian McCaffrey’s injury hopefully isn’t serious."
Sherman added that the 35-10 loss the Bills handed the 49ers puts a lot of things in perspective for the fanbase.
"It’s just unfortunate," Sherman added.
