BREAKING: Adam Schefter reveals Jalen Hurts uncertain to play against Cowboys on Christmas Eve showdown
The only thing that could derail the Philadelphia Eagles is injuries. News has broken that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has sprained his throwing shoulder and is uncertain to play against the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve.
ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news of Hurts' injury and stated that he suffered the injury against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, a game that the Eagles had to fight hard to eventually grind out a win.
With the Dallas Cowboys losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the NFC East title is within the Eagles' grasp, but an injured Hurts could spell trouble for a potential Super Bowl run for Philadelphia.
Eagles playoff hopes rest on Jalen Hurts' shoulders
The Eagles have the best record in the NFL, sitting at 13-1 and the only thing that could stand in their way of a long Super Bowl run is themselves. Well, now we can add injuries to that list.
Any injury at this time of year is not ideal, but when it is to your quarterback AND the arm he throws with, that is even worse.
While the Eagles scheme will make sure that Gardner Minshew will be able to slot in seamlessly, he is still no Jalen Hurts. Luckily for Philadelphia, they have clinched a playoff spot and are unlikely to lose the number one seed in the NFC.
But if Hurts is out for multiple weeks and they lose to Dallas on Christmas Eve and then continue to lose, then there is a small chance they could slip from top spot.
Eagles fans will be hoping that Hurts recovers quickly as he is key to them having any hope at hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in a few months time.
