BREAKING: Cardinals and Texans receive permission from Saints to interview Sean Payton for HC role

There are currently five head coaching vacanies in the NFL, and former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is expected to fill one of them.

The Saints have already granted the Denver Broncos permission to speak with the former Super-Bowl winning head coach. Moments ago, news surfaced that the Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans had requested access to interview Payton, which was approved by the team.

The Cardinals parted ways with head coach Kliff Kingsbury yesterday after going 4-13 this season and putting together only one winning season with the team back in 2021 during a four season stint.

Sources: The Arizona Cardinals fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who 10 months ago signed a contract extension through the 2027 season.

The Texans, on the other hand, fired head coach Lovie Smith after just one season at the mantle. With Smith as HC the team finished last in the AFC South. This comes a season after firing Dave Culley from the same role.
