BREAKING: Cardinals and Texans receive permission from Saints to interview Sean Payton for HC role
There are currently five head coaching vacanies in the NFL, and former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is expected to fill one of them.
The Saints have already granted the Denver Broncos permission to speak with the former Super-Bowl winning head coach. Moments ago, news surfaced that the Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans had requested access to interview Payton, which was approved by the team.
The Cardinals parted ways with head coach Kliff Kingsbury yesterday after going 4-13 this season and putting together only one winning season with the team back in 2021 during a four season stint.
The Texans, on the other hand, fired head coach Lovie Smith after just one season at the mantle. With Smith as HC the team finished last in the AFC South. This comes a season after firing Dave Culley from the same role.
Where will Sean Payton coach in 2023?
It's no secret that Sean Payton will be back in the NFL in 2023. The question is, who will he be coaching for? There are currently five head-coaching jobs open as of right now heading into 2023.
The Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and Arizona Cardinals all have open positions as head coaches.
The Saints reportedly want at least one first-round pick in return for the rights of Payton.
