Breaking: Giants and QB Daniel Jones reach $160M agreement deal
The New York Giants and quarterback Daniel Jones struck big right before the franchise tag deadline closed.
The Giants and Jones have agreed to terms on a four-year deal worth $160 million. He'll have $35 million in upside so the deal could be worth up to $195 million.
The two have had contract talks since the season ended with hopes of an extension. After going back and forth with talks, the two sides were able to agree on a $40 million-a-year contract, with the team not having to use the franchise tag on him.
Jones is coming off the best season of his career. He led the Giants to a 9-8 record and a spot in the playoffs.
The team picked up a road upset victory against the Minnesota Vikings.
New York Giants placed the franchise tag on Saquon Barkley following tagging of Daniel Jones
The Giants will head into the 2023 season with both Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones. After agreeing to a long-term deal with Jones, the team used the franchise tag on Barkley.
Barkley is set to make $10.1 million on the tag this season.
Both were set to become free agents, but the Giants locked both up before free agency starts.
