“I think we good over here”- Breece Hall takes dig at Ezekiel Elliott after Cowboys RB expresses interest in NY Jets
New York Jets running back Breece Hall took a shot at free-agent running back Ezekiel Elliott.
On March 15, Elliott was released by the Dallas Cowboys after seven seasons. After being on the open market for a week, Elliott has narrowed his decision down to three teams.
According to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, Elliott will decide between joining the New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
While some fans and players would be happy to welcome Ezekiel Elliott to their team, Jets starting running back Breece Hall is not. Hall thinks that the Jets are fine without him and expressed so on Twitter.
In a deleted Tweet, Hall said:
"I think we good over here @8kMike hbu?"
It's not the biggest surprise that Hall wouldn't want Elliott to join the Jets' backfield. If Elliott joins New York, he would have a big chance at becoming their RB1 in a crowded, split backfield.
Last season, Hall was the leader in the backfield before suffering a season-ending ACL and meniscus injury.
He led the team with 463 rushing yards while scoring four touchdowns and adding 19 catches for 218 yards and a touchdown.
Backup running back Michael Carter added 402 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. As a rookie, he rushed for 639 yards and four touchdowns.
Many in the league think the Jets have a good young duo in Hall and Carter.
Which team would be the best fit for Ezekiel Elliott?
Ezekiel Elliott would be a good addition to any of the three teams that he's interested in joining.
If he joined the Philadelphia Eagles, he would play Dallas twice a year with the defending NFC Champs. He would have a good chance to start as running back Miles Sanders left for the Carolina Panthers in free agency.
In Miami, he would join a crowded backfield that features Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., and Myles Gaskin. Elliott could also become the No. 1 running back in Miami, as they haven't had a true number one running back in awhile.
Elliott could be a good compliment to Joe Mixon in Cincinnati if they decide to keep him upon Zeke's arrival.
A decision is expected to be made by the end of next week and it will be interesting to see where he goes.
