Brett Favre net worth: How much did the Mississippi welfare fund scandal affect the QB's fortune?

Brett Favre has given a great account of himself on the football field. Off the field, he has allegedly left a lot to be desired. Most egregiously, he has been said to be involved in the Mississippi welfare fund scandal. There are purported texts showing his involvement in the sordid affair.

To recap, there is an allegation that government officials misappropriated funds meant for welfare in the state of Mississippi. This is money that would have otherwise gone to the poorest people in the state. That this happened in Mississippi, the poorest state in the union, is therefore especially galling. At $77 million, this is Mississippi's largest ever corruption case.

Brett Favre has been accused of diverting money from the welfare fund to build a volleyball court at the University of Southern Mississippi. The university where his daughter was then enrolled. If that had happened unknowingly, that still might have allowed Favre to keep his reputation intact. Instead, he seems to have sent texts trying to ensure that this never came to light, which makes him appear culpable.

He has also been accused of taking money for public speeches but not giving them. Though there is an agreement that he has paid back those fees, the interest amount on the repayment is still pending.

With all such allegations taking hold, we will take a look and see if Brett Favre has suffered any consequences to his net worth.

Brett Favre's net worth of $100 million and how the scandal affects it

Brett Favre is currently valued at around or upwards of $100 million. That is not surprising given that he has been one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, winning a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers.

But the affair has affected at least some of his endorsements. He has apparently lost the support of Odyssey Health. The company makes nasal concussion-relieving products and had him on the advisory board. This reference has been removed from their website ever since the scandal broke.

Hallow, a Catholic Prayer app, also seems to have gone down the same road. His picture still remains, but any textual reference to the partnership that began in 2018, seems scrubbed.

SiriusXM and ESPN Milwaukee have also suspended his show with them. However, other companies like Cross Fit have decided to give Favre the benefit of the doubt and still retain him on board.

It does not seem likely that he will be personally affected much due to the scandal given his net worth, but it might go down slightly due to the loss of some endorsements.

The real hit will likely come in the future, if he is legally found to have taken part in the scandal. If that does occur, expect extreme ramifications for the former Packers QB and his net worth.
