Brett Favre has his say on controversial January 6th Committee formed for 2021 US Capitol attacks
Brett Favre saw the January 6th, 2021, attack on the Capitol unfold, and he also saw the ensuing investigation by a committee. The January 6th Committee was made up of US representatives who sought to uncover everything about the insurrection attempt in 2021.
The committee was, like everything in politics, not without controversy. Those on one side politically generally supported the committee, while others across the aisle believed there were some issues. One X account said that they all need to be investigated, and that got Favre's attention as well.
Favre's reply was succinct but it voiced his opinion. He believes that those who served on the January 6 Committee should be investigated.
The investigation lasted over a year and a half and utilized 1,000 witnesses, but many people, the former quarterback included, aren't sure it was all above board.
The committee ultimately decided to recommend conviction for former President Donald Trump's role in the Capitol incident. They believe he could have been charged with obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to knowingly make a false statement, and assisting, aiding, or comforting an insurrection.
Those findings were met with controversy, and even several months after the findings were released, lots of people, the former Green Bay Packers star included, believe there needs to be an investigation of those who ran the initial investigation.
Brett Favre has praised Donald Trump
In 2023, Brett Favre made his political opinions a little more clear. He voiced his idea that the country was a little better under Donald Trump than it was under Joe Biden.
Via the Daily Mail, he said in May of 2023:
"Was he perfect? Absolutely not. Am I perfect? Absolutely not. I'm flawed just like the rest of 'em. We're all flawed. But, I really felt like he had our country in a better place and really cared about our people in our country."
The former Minnesota Vikings star continued:
"Black, white, Hispanic, Asian -- you name it. I think if you were an American citizen, he cared about you, first and foremost. I don't know if our current president has the same mentality or regime."
He added that he doesn't really consider himself a Democrat or a Republican at the time. Favre just knows what he believes in personally.
