Brittany Mahomes backs Simone Biles as Olympic champ hits back at MyKayla Skinner
Simone Biles made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday as she clinched her fifth gold medal and became the most decorated American Olympic gymnast in history. Patrick Mahomes' wife, Brittany, was among the handful of NFL personalities and public figures who congratulated her for the feat.
In an Instagram story, Brittany showed her support for the caption that Biles used in her post.
"Caption 👏👏 they did that!," said Brittany.
"lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions ❤️🥇🇺🇸" was what Biles said in her caption, which alluded to her recent feud with former gymnast MyKayla Skinner. When this year's Team USA Women's Gymnastics lineup was announced, Skinner said—in a now-deleted YouTube video—that the current generation of US gymnasts lacked talent, depth and work ethic.
"Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn't like what it used to be. Just notice like, I mean, obviously a lot of girls don't work as hard. The girls just don't have the work ethic," said Skinner.
After dissing Skinner, Biles was blocked by the athlete on Instagram and this was confirmed by Biles' teammate Jordan Chiles on her Instagram story.
Jonathan Owens gushes over wife Simone Biles as she clinches gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics
Biles' husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, was in attendance to witness her make history. He was granted special permission to miss a few days from the Bears training camp to see his wife.
Proud is an understatement, as Owens showered Biles with so much support on social media. In an Instagram story, he said: "Gold medal baby!!!!!!"
He also made a dedicated Instagram post that had the following caption:
"Witnessing history every time you step on the mat 😍🔥 Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful i was there to see it ❤️🤍💙"
Other NFL personalities, such as Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce along with his wife, Kylie, were also spotted watching different events in the Olympics.
In an episode of The Pat McAfee Show that aired on July 18, Manning talked about his chance of becoming a coach when flag football debuts at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
"I was probably a better coach of our youth flag football team [here] in Denver than I’d been at the Pro Bowl. I’m 0-2 as the Pro Bowl coach to Eli [Manning]. … I’d like to be a coach on [the U.S.] team [but] there’s no way I’m getting picked now that Eli’s beat me twice," said Manning.
Manning also mentioned California-based NFC head coaches Sean McVay (Los Angeles Rams) and Kyle Shanahan (San Francisco 49ers) as candidates.
