Brittany Mahomes shows support for Chiefs as KC fans get called out for favoring their seeding over Damar Hamlin's recovery
In a series of devastating events, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after suffering from a cardiac arrest. Fans and players united to pray for his recovery, while the 24-year-old remained in critical condition.
Brittany Mahomes, who is constantly sharing updates on social media, was among those tracking Hamlin's recovery. The incident seems to have shaken everyone up, especially since there were limited updates for hours.
However, a few Kansas City Chiefs fans might be more concerned with the team and their seeding. Patrick Mahomes has been working hard with the team for months, hoping to lead his team even during the playoffs.
With the Bills-Cincinati Bengals game canceled, the Chiefs might end up benefiting as the playoffs approach.
Though some NFL fans are being hard on the Chiefs, many — including Brittany Mahomes — believe this was something they did not ask for. Brittany liked the tweet, reiterating the same, asking everyone not to blame the Chiefs for the situation.
Since the incident, Brittany has been updating her followers about Hamlin's recovery. The entrepreneur and trainer has retweeted news about the youngster's safety, praying for his speedy recovery with everyone else.
That being said, Brittany seems to have noticed the negativity surrounding KC fans and the Chiefs.
"My advice to all of you is don't spend too much time today being upset with the Chiefs. Are they technically gaining an advantage? Yeah," the tweet read. "But they didn't ask for this. They are hurting just like the rest of the NFL is. This is a bad situation all around with no perfect solution".
Fans under the tweet clarified their stance. Apparently, they are mad at some fans who are more concerned with their team's seeding and the playoffs over the 24-year-old man's recovery.
Is Brittany Mahomes' support valid? Why was the Bengals-Bills game crucial?
Despite the issues surrounding fans and Hamlin's condition, Brittany seems to be more concerned about the Chiefs being targeted for something that wasn't their fault. The tweet focused on the league not having a perfect solution, considering how worrisome the situation was.
However, one cannot overlook the advantage Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will gain. With the game canceled, the Chiefs have the chance to secure the AFC's top playoff seed. If they beat the Las Vegas Raiders, they will move ahead of the Bills.
Previously, the Bills were leading due to a tiebreaker advantage. If they beat the Bengals and then the New England Patriots, they would ultimately lead the AFC by securing the top seed.
With the game being held so late in the regular season, it could have been tough for the league to move around their playoffs or simply reschedule the game.
As a result, some KC fans have been more excited about their team leading the AFC. Considering Hamlin's recovery, their statements can be considered insensitive. However, based on Brittany's liked tweet and some fans, the Chiefs and their players are not to blame.
Is Damar Hamlin recovering?
According to reports, Hamlin is recovering and able to communicate with his medical team. Though he was in critical condition, he can now speak through writing, and his on his way to neurological recovery.
In fact, he had the most incredible first words after regaining consciousness:
"Did we win?"
The doctors responded:
"Damar, you won. You won the game of life."
As Hamlin recovers, one can only hope for the Bills to return and play with renewed spirit. The Chiefs, currently preparing to face the Raiders, are just one step away from securing the top seed.
