Browns’ Jerry Jeudy plays blame game in 3 words as report of failed Jets trade goes viral
Jerry Jeudy could have been a New York Jets player if only he had better ratings in the popular Electronic Arts game, Madden. While most managers and owners conduct a thorough analysis if they should sign a player, "The Athletic" reported that Jets owner Woody Johnson refused to sign Jerry Jeudy when he was up for grabs because his score on the video game was low.
After the report went viral on Thursday, Jeudy finally broke his silence on the entire matter with a three-word X (formerly, Twitter) post. He said that he blamed Chad "Ocho" Johnson for the trade that never happened.
"I blame 😂@ochocinco" Jerry Jeudy wrote on X.
Why is Oho in Jeudy's crosshairs? Chad Johnson is actually an official "Ratings Adjuster" for the wildly popular video game. By assigning a low score to Jeudy, the Cleveland Browns wideout wants to say that Ocho was indirectly responsible for Woody Johnson passing on him.
Jeudy has nothing to regret though, but the Jets do. After being traded to the Browns, the wideout recorded the best season of his entire career after registering 1,000 yards - a first for his career. The Browns may not be in playoff contention, but even without their star QB, Deshaun Watson, who is out for the season due to an Achilles injury, they are 3-11. The Jets, on the other hand, even with veteran, 4x NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers are 4-10.
Jerry Jeudy faces the wrath of former team's fanbase
During the game against the Denver Broncos on Dec. 2, Jeudy was booed by his former team's fanbase after every catch. They were angry that he was having one of the best seasons of his career, but now with the team that had drafted him in their first round.
However, Jeudy was not one to be discouraged by it, and instead took the boos and insults by the fanbase in stride. After the game, he opened up about how he truly felt.
"There were a lot of boos, huh? What that mean? A lot of catches, too," Jeudy said. "They only boo you when they know there's something great in you."
Can Jeudy help his team salvage the season by winning the final three games of the regular season?
