“I hate when people on here just talking” – Buccaneers’ Leonard Fournette lashes out at critics, reveals he’s been nursing a major foot injury
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette led the way for his team in a huge comeback win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16. The Bucs won 19-16 in overtime and improved to 7-8 for the season.
Fournette rushed for 72 yards on 20 carries, while also having nine receptions for 90 yards. After the game, Fournette opened up on his struggles and how people are counting him out.
Here's what Leonard Fournette said after his dominating performance in the win over the Arizona Cardinals:
"I hate when people be on here just talking saying I’m out of shape etc do y’all understand I’m playing with a lisfranc in my foot every week can barely push off my foot but through the Grace of God I’m going to keep proving y’all wrong…"
As stated by Fournette himself, a foot injury has troubled him the entire season, and having a depleted O-line hasn't made his job any easier.
Fourenette came into the camp out of shame and many mocked him for being fat. He did promise that he'll be in shape for the season, but a slow start to the season brought more criticism.
He has 179 carries for 640 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games this season. Fournette is well known for being a playoff performer and Tom Brady needs him to show up if they manage to qualify for the postseason.
Leonard Fournette will be the trump card for Tom Brady
With their win over the Arizona Cardinals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have put themselves in prime position to win the NFC South. Fournette had a standout performance and Tom Brady praised him for it.
Here's what Brady said about Fournette's performance against the Cardinals:
“He ran really hard and was on a mission, Ran through arm tackles, ran hard, caught the ball well, pass protected well. This team has a lot of resiliency. We fight hard..."
Leonard Fournette will be the go-to guy for the Buccaneers in the playoffs. Tom Brady needs a good running game to exploit the opponent with his passing later in the match.
If Fournette continues to play as he played against the Cardinals, this Bucs team could become very scary when their squad is back healthy. They escaped with a win against the Cardinals and will be determined to get better in the coming weeks.
