Buccaneers' owners, the Glazer Family, spend more on political funding in 2024 than Baker Mayfield's $1,125,000 salary

NFL team owners have made their fair share of contributions to the 2024 United States' Presidential elections. Owners of more than half of all NFL teams have made whopping political donations this year, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers' owner, the Glazer Family, donated more than $3.2 million to Democrats, which is way more than Baker Mayfield's $1,125,000 salary (per Sportrac).

According to Front Office Sports, Avram Glazer, one of the members of The Glazer Family, who co-owns the Buccaneers, made the multi-million dollar donation. The $3.2 million was donated in multiple portions to different political parties, with $1.7 million of donation to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' campaigns.

Moreover, around $425,000 was donated to the Democratic National Committee, $50,000 to the leader of House Minority Hakeem Jeffries, and more than $900,000 to multiple Democratic groups across the country. Avram Glazer's brother Edward too made considerable donations.

Edward Glazer donated about $722,000 to various Republican causes in 2024. Interestingly, most of the amount from Edward’s donation has been diverted to the Republican National Committee, according to the Front Office Sports.

Apart from the Buccaneers, many more team owners made significant contributions to political funds.

List of NFL teams that have spent on political funding in 2024

In addition to the Buccaneers, the Denver Broncos owner Rob Walton also donated $20.5 million to Republicans in 2024, according to the Washington Post.

Apart from that, Walton also donated $10 million to a PAC (Political Action Committee) that supports Senate candidates Bernie Moreno and Dave McCormick.

The New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has also joined the list of NFL team owners who made major contributions to political funding for the 2024 elections.

According to Front Office Sports, Johnson has donated more than $800,000 to Donald Trump for campaigns and victory funds. In addition, he's also donated $10,000 to multiple Republican groups in around 19 states.

Moreover, the Cleveland Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam donated $75,000 to Tim Scott. The Tennessee Titans owner Amy Stunk donated $3,300 to Donald Trump.

The Arizona Cardinals owner Mike Bidwill donated $28,300 to Republican Primaries candidate and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

The Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf donated a total of $31,600 to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
