Caleb Williams, girlfriend Alina Thyregod celebrate one-year milestone with heartfelt note from Bears rookie
Caleb Williams has been dating Alina Thyregod for a year now. The two first started dating back in high school but broke up shortly afterward. Yet they kept in touch and got back together before the draft.
After his Chicago Bears defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6 in London, they entered their bye week.
So he took the time to reminisce on their relationship by going on a posting spree of their vacation on his Instagram Stories. He began with an image of the two embracing on the playing field with this message:
"Been a good year w this one (two hear emojis)"
There was also a picture of them kissing on the sideline during a Bears game, as well as a picture of Thyregod in the middle of a tree-laden park.
Alina Thyregod cheers on Caleb Williams with denim Bears outfit
One instance of Alina Thyregod's support of Caleb Williams came last month at the Houston Texans, when she wore a denim jacket and pants emblazoned with his name and jersey number (18) on the back and the Bears' wishbone C on the right sleeve and back pocket:
The Bears lost that game, 19-13. Williams in particular played horribly, being intercepted twice and sacked seven times.
Caleb Williams returning to Washington as Bears face Jayden Daniels, Commanders
Week 8 marks a special moment for Caleb Williams, as it is not merely a return the the field for him. He is returning to Washington DC, the place where he was born and initially raised before becoming a collegiate sensation.
And he is facing that city's NFL team, the Commanders, and their own phenom of a rookie quarterback in Jayden Daniels, who was selected right after him in the Draft. (This is pending the 2023 Heisman winner's availability, as he is dealing with a rib injury and is considered day-to-day.)
Ahead of Sunday's game, Randy Trivers, Williams' coach at Gonzaga College High, spoke with Scott Abraham, a correspondent for ABC's area affiliate WJLA, to discuss the quarterback's mindset heading in. He said:
"Caleb is a super competitor. I know that the bigger the stage, the more eyes, the more he's ready and feels like he's willing to take on the challenge. His poise and confidence, rubs off on everyone else. He's not going to be shaken or fueled by it. We will get his best on Sunday."
He also revealed that he would be bringing the entire Gonzaga team to Northwest Stadium, and they would have some special things on their hands:
"We got a few different Caleb jerseys. Certainly the one I love the best was when he was wearing the purple here at Gonzaga. It's cool to see him don number 18 again, his old high school number."
That clash between two highly-regarded rookie quarterbacks is so highly anticipated that it was flexed into the 4:25 pm slot last week, replacing the Philadelphia Eagles-Cincinnati Bengals game. It will now also be called by CBS's no. 1 crew of Jim Nantz and Tony Romo.
