Cam Newton hits back at Jason McIntyre's "new to media" dig after former QB's comment on Cowboys
Cam Newton and Jason McIntyre's bad blood does not look like subsiding anytime soon after the former MVP characterizes the Dallas Cowboys. Cam Newton had said that calling them "America's Team", as they are traditionally called, is a misnomer.
And The Herd contributor was not having it. Jason McIntyre went after Cam Newton saying that the quarterback was "new to media". On this 4th and 1 show, the former Panthers star responded to those assertions.
The ex-NFL player said that McIntyre entered the print media in 2006 with a blog but did not get on camera and broadcast since 2015.
"Mr. Jason, first off, we're not frenemies. If we were beefing. I'm vegan, sorry I don't do the beef... Since I'm new to this, because you start it? Media, a media blog site, 2006, Where was I? High School. He was just writing. His first on-camera opportunity was 2015-16."
According to Cam Newton, when Jason McIntyre finally got screen time, he was already in the NFL and was a well-regarded quarterback who had to front up to the media after every game. Hence, the former league MVP believes that he has as much experience, if not more, when it comes to being in front of the camera. Newton concluded,
"So, Jason, gotcha. He knows where I was in 2015. But let's rewind this. Since I'm so new to the media, when you just got your first start in 2016, or 2015. I had already been media trained... You can't keep saying that I'm new to something if I've always been in the media longer than you."
Cam Newton previously slammed Jason McIntyre for calling Dak Prescott better
Cam Newton's feud with Jason McIntyre has genesis in the past. After The Herd contributor showed stats that implied that Dak Prescott was better than the former MVP, the latter fired back saying that his rushing yards and touchdowns were conveniently ignored to suit a narrative. The former Patriots quarterback said,
"I was a dual-threat quarterback. Add in rushing yards. Add in rushing touchdowns. They try to manipulate the narrative. Instead of speaking about what I said, they try to poke at the person. Jason, if I were to do my research on you personally - failed situations, got fired from a job, flunked out of college. If I really were to do that...then I will be evil. I'm the bully. Or I'm bitter."
The simmering tension between the two men does not look to be dying out anytime soon.
