Cam Newton places faith in notorious NBA villain to be the first to trash-talk Lakers’ Bronny James
Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton believes NBA villain Dillon Brooks will be the first to trash-talk Bronny James. James has become the talk of the NBA as he was drafted 55th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers and will get to play alongside his dad LeBron.
However, many analysts have been critical of Bronny's skill set, as they don't think he is a legit NBA player and only got drafted because of his dad.
“Dillon Brooks. I don’t even think he’s going to have an opportunity to tell him that. He’s not going to be forced to play early," Newton said on his "4th & 1" podcast.
Brooks is known for his intense trash talk, as he isn't afraid to let players know how he feels about them. It makes sense to think that he would take aim at Bronny James on the court.
But whether Bronny James will even share the court with Brooks is uncertain, as it's likely he will play time in the G League and only play in garbage time in the NBA.
Cam Newton reveals the only team he'd return to NFL to play for
Cam Newton hasn't played since the 2021 season, and it's unlikely the quarterback will play in the NFL again.
However, if Newton plays football again, the former MVP says he would only play for the Atlanta Falcons.
“Me having a family now, it’s always been about family, and I don’t see myself leaving Atlanta,” said Newton. “If it’s not Atlanta, I don’t want to do it.”
Newton is from Georgia, so playing for his hometown team the Atlanta Falcons would be special. Outside of that, Newton is comfortable not playing in the NFL again, as he has become a media personality and hosts his own show.
In Newton's last season in the NFL, he played in eight games, starting five for the Carolina Panthers and going 0-for-5. He threw just four touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for five touchdowns.
Newton was drafted first overall by the Carolina Panthers in the 2011 NFL draft. He played with the Panthers until 2019 and won MVP in 2015, as he led the team to a Super Bowl appearance that year. He spent the 2020 season with the New England Patriots in the only year he didn't play for the Panthers.
