Cam Newton shares his side after allegedly being racially targeted in CFB 25 video game - “Racism still exists”
Cam Newton has been a busy man even after his pseudo-retirement, hosting his own podcast called 4th & 1. In it, he usually discusses various NFL topics like the MVP race.
But for Thursday's episode, he deviated somewhat, showing his livestream of EA Sports College Football 25, during which someone allegedly threw racial slurs at him. He said:
"I believe in s***-talking. But I'm not going to say nothing away from you that I wouldn't say face to face to you. And I expect that same type of respect. I wouldn't be laughing if he said that shoulder to shoulder. Whether he knew I was playing, he was playing me or not, that shouldn't even matter. It should've never come out of your mouth." (16:38 – 17:10)
He continued:
"We have to start prioritizing the right thing. And am I using my platform to do anything other than shed light to ... Racism still exists. But if he's playing a video game and he gets scored on something that's harmless and it's nothing that's impacting, we didn't bet no money. It's fake." (19:10 – 19:39)
Cam Newton recalls the time a fan spotted him inside a public toilet
In the previous episode, Cam Newton recalled a time when he attempted to discreetly use a public toilet:
"I remember I was so embarrased because I had to s*** so bad. I was in a place where they knew who I was. And I was like, 'Oh s***, this is bad. It's a single stall.' The structure of the restroom was like a cooler, it points to the whole area. You see your whole body sitting on the stool."
But just as he thought he had locked the door, this happened:
"I'm mid-s***, and then I heard somebody approaching. But the person had on headphones. The door opened, I looked at him, he looked at me and said, 'Oh s***, it's Cam Newton!'"
He also defended Patrick Mahomes, whose iconic Kermit-esque voice had been ridiculed by Las Vegas Raiders rookie safety Trey Taylor:
"Training camp isn't a playground. Patrick Mahomes has achieved so much already. I don't get why this rookie thinks he can get away with this kind of stunt. Who is he to be making jokes about a Super Bowl MVP?... Taylor is still making his way in the NFL. It's puzzling why he'd choose to target someone with Mahomes' stature."
