Cam Newton steps in with wisdom after Travis Hunter's fiancée's viral argument video: "It's not about you"
Cam Newton shared what he thinks about Travis Hunter's fiancée seemingly rejecting his affectionate advances after the Colorado Buffaloes finished their season. The moment came after the two-way star and Heisman Trophy was seen interacting with supporters and it appeared that Leanna Lenee was not happy with her fiancé's exchange with female fans.
Cam Newton said that she should not be so mad at her partner because Travis Hunter is a famous football superstar. The former NFL MVP said that even when the college player is being a model citizen, he will attract attention.
"Just understand what comes with the guy that you're dating and not be naive to who he is. It's hard. He's getting used to okay this lifestyle with money, and from what we've seen, Travis Hunter has been the perfect citizen for everything we ain't never seen Travis Hunter outside of a club. Everything we seen Travis Hunter, he's always controlled and still attracts a certain type of person"
Cam Newton then said that these things are only going to be exacerbated once Travis Hunter reaches the NFL. As a professional footballer, he will have more fame and money and there will be those looking to take advantage of that. The former Panthers and Patriots quarterback continued,
"Let's not be delusional about that. It's only going to get tough. He's only going to get richer. He's only going to get more notoriety. So girlfriend, so fiance, so wife, understand what your partner is going through."
Cam Newton asks Travis Hunter's fiancée to support him through the process
Cam Newton continued by saying that she is not supposed to be the center of attention during or after a game. Instead, he asked her to put his needs first and understand where he was coming from, commenting,
"It's not about man, you played me, or why you talk to me like that, or why you talk about me like that and this that. It's not about you, babe. Instead of asking those questions, why ask this question of, 'How? How can I make you better in this time'. That's what a person like that needs."
For her part, Leanna Lenee has asked people not to rush to conclusions, saying that the exchange on social media might not convey what people are assuming. She wrote on Instagram,
"These pics were taken 30 seconds after that clip by the way. Pls remember that social media is not real, and 5 seconds is not enough to understand a situation.
She later also posted pictures of them together, showing whatever happened between Travis Hunter and her is now in the past.
